PRP treatment for tendon disorders

What is a PRP treatment?

At GOED Medical Center, we specialize in regenerative medicine with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). PRP is also known as ACP (Autologous Conditioned Plasma). This is a treatment in which we inject plasma from the patient's own body with a high dose of platelets into and around tendons. This naturally stimulates recovery.

Why PRP in tendonitis?

The growth factors in PRP are essential to the healing process of damaged tendon tissue. They stimulate cell growth, improve blood flow and promote tendon tissue regeneration. Tendon disorders can range from tendinopathy (inflammation of the tendon) to tendinosis (degeneration of the tendon without inflammation). In severe tendon disorders with scar tissue, we combine PRP with Tenex treatment.

How effective is PRP in tendonitis?

In chronic reactive tendon disease, 80% of patients are satisfied with the effect of treatment. For optimal recovery, it is important to properly implement the physical therapy exercise program. Realize that recovery will take 6-9 months. Lifestyle-related factors also affect tendon recovery.

Does PRP in tendonitis have adverse effects?

Treatment with PRP is a safe technique with no long-term adverse effects. Only shortly after treatment can you experience a temporary increase in symptoms.

Please note that PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment is not covered by your insurance company.
