Achilles tendon inflammation
Achilles tendonitis, or achillodynia tendinopathy, refers to a condition in which the Achilles tendon, the large tendon that connects the calf muscles to the heel, becomes painful, irritated or inflamed. This condition can be caused by various factors such as overuse, poor training techniques and stress on the calf muscles and is common in runners and other athletes.
What symptoms do I experience with Achilles tendonitis?
Symptoms of Achilles tendinitis range from pain and stiffness at the Achilles tendon that gets worse after long periods of rest and increases with activity, to swelling, redness and warmth around the Achilles tendon.
What treatments does GOOD Medical Center offer for Achilles tendon inflammation?
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment.
An effective treatment for Achilles tendinitis is a PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) treatment. This treatment, from regenerative medicine, reduces pain and stiffness of the Achilles tendon.
USGET treatment icm PRP (in case of a lot of scarring)
For Achilles tendinitis, USGET is used to stimulate tissue regeneration in the heel. This is also known as Ultrasound-guided Galvanic Electrolysis therapy. When a lot of scarring shows up on the ultrasound, we start USGET treatment at GOED Medical Center. The PRP treatment then follows a week later.
Tenex treatment
When the above treatments do not provide the desired results, we may resort to a Tenex treatment. A Tenex treatment, also known as percutaneous tenotomy, for Achilles tendinitis focuses on removing damaged tissue from the affected tendon while leaving healthy tissue intact.

Bone marrow edema due to osteoarthritis in the foot or ankle
