Various tendon disorders

Tendinopathy (inflammation of the tendon)

Tendinopathy of the shoulder is inflammation of the tendons of the rotator cuff muscles. This condition is often caused by overuse, especially in activities that require movements of the arm that you have to repeat often.

Symptoms: pain and sometimes swelling in the shoulder, especially when lifting the arm.

Tendinosis (aging of the tendon)

Tendinosis is a chronic condition characterized by deterioration of the tendon without significant inflammation. It is often caused by long-term overuse or aging.

Symptoms: Tendinosis can cause pain and weakness in the shoulder.

Tear in the rotator cuff

A tendon tear, also called a cuff rupture, forms a tear in one or more tendons in the shoulder. Wear and tear of the tendon or long-term irritation of the bursa are the most common causes of a cuff rupture. During the consultation, we will look together at the most effective treatment for your symptoms.

Symptoms: Depending on the size and location of the tear, symptoms can range from mild pain and weakness to severe loss of function in the shoulder.

Biceps Tendinopathy

Biceps Tendinitis is an inflammation of the long biceps tendon in the shoulder. It results from overuse and wear and tear.

Symptoms: Pain in the front of the shoulder.

How do I fix my tendonitis?

Often, physical therapy is a first step to help tendonitis. Unfortunately, this does not have the desired effect in all patients. Do you continue to experience tendonitis after your course with the physical therapist? At GOED Medical Center, we offer a number of different treatments that are successful in relieving tendonitis.

What can I do myself in terms of prevention and self-care?

Avoid repeated overuse of the shoulder. Preventively, you can perform exercises to improve muscle strength and stability. In addition, maintain good physical posture.
