A sweaters knee (sweater's knee or patellar tendinopathy) is an inflammation of the tendon that connects the kneecap to the lower leg. It is caused by repetitive strain. You experience symptoms such as pain, swelling in the front of the knee, on the underside of the kneecap.

GOED Medical Center offers several treatments for a sweaters knee. Together with a specialist, we will determine which treatment best suits your situation.

1. PRP treatment

PRP
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is also known as ACP (Autologous Conditioned Plasma). This treatment leads to reduction of pain in sweaters knee and reduces inflammation of the tendon. Plasma is taken from the patient's own blood and is a natural means of reducing inflammation.

Monitoring and repeat treatment
After 6 weeks, the knee is checked. If necessary, the PRP treatment is repeated.

Exercise Therapy
After PRP treatment, targeted exercise therapy is started.

2. USGET and PRP treatment.

Is there a lot of scar tissue in the tendon? If so, you are eligible for USGET treatment.

USGET
USGET (Ultrasound-guided Galvanic Electrolysis Therapy) is a treatment in which tissue generation in the knee is motivated with Ultrasound-guided Galvanic Electrolysis Therapy.

PRP treatment
After a week, the PRP treatment is applied.

Monitoring and exercise therapy
6 weeks after PRP treatment, the knee is checked and you start exercise therapy.

3. Tenex treatment

When the above treatments do not work, there is a possibility of applying the Tenex treatment.

Tenex
Tenex stands for "Tenotomy with Percutaneous Needle Excision" and is a minimally invasive procedure. Tenex is a good alternative when anti-inflammatory treatments, rest and exercise therapy are not effective.

Monitoring and exercise therapy
After 6 weeks, you will have a checkup and start targeted exercise therapy.
