Degenerative meniscus extrusion
Degenerative meniscus extrusion is a condition in which the meniscus in the knee deteriorates and moves to the side (outer part) of the knee joint.

What symptoms do I experience with degenerative meniscus extrusion?
Degenerative meniscus extrusion is a condition in which the meniscus in the knee deteriorates and moves to the side (outer part) of the knee joint. A meniscus is a disc of cartilage in the knee. In knee osteoarthritis, this condition can occur due to deterioration of the cartilage in the knee. This causes pain, discomfort and limited range of motion.
How does degenerative meniscus extraction occur?
In knee osteoarthritis, there is deterioration of the cartilage in the knee joint, including the meniscus. As osteoarthritis progresses, the meniscus also weakens and loses its elasticity. This can lead to extrusion, where the meniscus becomes out of bounds in the joint.

What can I do myself in terms of prevention and self-care?
Meniscu sextrusion combined with osteoarthritis can be a progressive condition. This means it can get worse over time. However, raising the alarm early and treating the condition consistently can help slow progression and improve quality of life. Regular exercise, a healthy diet and avoiding activities that overload the knee are important here.
