Tendinitis calcarea, ook bekend als calcific tendinitis of verkalking in de pezen, is een aandoening waarbij kalkafzettingen zich vormen in een pees, meestal in de schouder. Deze aandoening kan pijn en bewegingsbeperking veroorzaken. Deze aandoening komt vaak voor in de Rotator Cuff pezen in de schouder. Veelvoorkomende symptomen zijn pijn (vooral ’s nachts), stijfheid en een beperkt bewegingsbereik. De pijn kan vari\u00ebren van mild tot zeer ernstig.<\/p>\n

Tendinitis calcarea of peesverkalking is vaak een gevolg van veroudering, overbelasting van de pees, of het gevolg van een verminderde bloedtoevoer naar de schouder. Ook is er een duidelijk verband geconstateerd tussen het ontstaan van peesverkalking en metabole ziekten zoals diabetes of een ongezonde levensstijl.<\/p>\n

De behandeling van tendinitis calcarea kan conservatief of invasief zijn, afhankelijk van de ernst van de symptomen. Conservatieve behandelingen zijn bijvoorbeeld rust, ijsapplicatie, pijnstillers en ontstekingsremmers, fysiotherapie en schokgolftherapie. Werken deze conservatieve behandelingen niet? Zelfzorgmaatregelen zoals het vermijden van activiteiten die pijn veroorzaken, het gebruik van warmte- of koude therapie, en het doen van rekoefeningen kunnen helpen bij het beheersen van de symptomen. Het is ook belangrijk om een goede houding aan te nemen en een ergonomische werkplek te gebruiken, om overbelasting van de betrokken pezen te voorkomen.<\/p>\n
